I graduated in Biotechnology at the University of Beira Interior – UBI (2017-2020) and I am in the last year of my Master’s degree in Biochemistry at the same institution (2020-present).
At the moment, my interest is to develop tools to know the evolution of Xylella fastidiosa in Portuguese territory, a project that I am developing in the scope of my dissertation in the molecular biology laboratory of Cataa – Association Center for Agro-Food Technological Support in collaboration with Fitolab – Pedro Nunes Institute.
In the context of the CULTIVAR project, the main objective is to identify and characterize the diversity of endophyte microorganisms present in plant species susceptible to Xylella fastidiosa infection and to identify the subspecies of Xylella fastidiosa present in Portugal.
In the laboratory I mainly apply molecular biology techniques, namely DNA extraction of different matrices, PCR and new generation sequencing through Nanopore technology, as well as assays for the creation of Xylella fastidiosa.
