My name is Inês Leão, I graduated in Biology from the University of Aveiro and I am currently in the last year of my Master’s in Applied Ecology at the same institution. My main interests are plant ecology, botany, and the study of biodiversity and its conservation. I am currently working on the Operation Pollinator project with the FLOWer Lab (Centre for Functional Ecology – Science for People & the Planet), at the University of Coimbra, for my master’s thesis.
At CULTIVAR I am part of the research line “Valuing wild pollinators for sustainable pollination services in agroecosystems”, and for the scientific work I develop I use the following techniques:
– Square sampling for flower count and pollen supplementation, to assess pollen limitation.
– Direct observation to identify pollinators.
– Observation of pollen tubes with the aid of a microscope.
