On March 10th, 11th and 12th, the 1stCongress of BiomedLab was held, organized by the Portuguese Association of Biomedical Laboratory Sciences, at Alfandega do Porto.
Ana Sofia Dias, an ESALD student who recently interned with us, presented an oral communication on “The Antimicrobial potential of Vigna Unguiculata root extracts”, a work she carried out together with UBI student Madalena Soares, in the Microbiology laboratory of CATAA, within the scope of the CULTIVAR project.
The scientific committee and spectators showed positive feedback. They stressed the importance of the continuation of this study, and also suggested the possible applicability in a clinical aspect, namely in the fight against antibiotic resistance using bioactive compounds.
